PetroChina employee shot dead in Houston

Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting on Monday night of a young woman who worked for PetroChina.
HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officer Sheila Spivey and Detective Tom Ferguson said that about 10:30 pm on Monday witnesses reported hearing a gunshot in Camden Holly Springs, a gated apartment complex on Sam Houston Parkway South.
Bystanders found the victim in the complex and attempted to provide medical assistance. Houston Fire Department paramedics arrived a short time later and pronounced her dead.
According to the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, the victim, believed to be in her early 20s, sustained gunshot wounds to her chest and neck. She was identified on Tuesday, but her name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
PetroChina International (America) Inc confirmed that the woman was one of its employees. The company said it was "very saddened" over her death but declined to provide any further details. PetroChina employs more than 100 people in Houston.
