Liu was born into a family of scholars from Xinyang, Henan province. Now he holds a doctorate in life science from Tsinghua University.

"I like my job. I can meet many entrepreneurs with dreams of openning their own businesses, as well as successful businessmen and good investment projects. I get to meet prominent people from the government, research institutions and other fields and learn a lot from them. In the future, I might start my own business too."
