BEIJING - The Central Military Commission (CMC) on Friday promoted five senior military officers to the rank of general, the highest rank for officers in active service in China.
At the promotion ceremony, CMC Chairman Xi Jinping presented the officers with certificates of command, shook hands with them and extended his congratulations.
The promoted officers are Commander of the Central Theater Command of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Han Weiguo, Political Commissar of the PLA Army Liu Lei, Political Commissar of the PLA Air Force Yu Zhongfu, Political Commissar of the PLA Rocket Force Wang Jiasheng, and Commander of the PLA Strategic Support Force Gao Jin.
Fan Changlong, CMC vice chairman, announced the order of promotion signed by Xi. The ceremony was presided over by Xu Qiliang, also CMC vice chairman.
