Hundreds of millions of people switched off lights around the world on Saturday evening to show their commitment to environmental protection and call for greater action on climate change.
More than 3,100 buildings in over 200 cities around China will turn off their lights at 8:30 to 9:30 on Saturday evening.
Started by the World Wide Fund for Nature in Sydney in 2007, the event is held annually to encourage individuals, communities, and businesses to turn off non-essential electric lights for one hour, from 8:30 to 9:30 pm on a specific day towards the end of March, as a symbol of commitment to the planet.
As the Earth Hour ambassador, actress and singer Li Bingbing calls for everyone to participate in this global event, and download the China Daily app to interact.
