To commemorate the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening-up policy, an exhibition featuring calligraphy and paintings of artists from East China's Anhui province will open at the National Art Museum in Beijing on Thursday.

The displayed work will reflect the region's mesmerizing landscape and rich culture. Starting from the renowned Xin'an School in late Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), local artists remain a strong influence in Chinese painting and calligraphy circles.

In recent years, Anhui artists have been connecting their creations with current affairs, regional transformation and the life of common people. This exhibit comprehensively reveals the China in a new era through the strokes of colors and ink.
