Edvard Moser, a Norwegian psychologist and neuroscientist who shared the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2014, set up a medical biology laboratory in Chun'an county, Zhejiang on July 3.

Moser's academic concentration is mainly on the brain's positioning system, which is considered to be significant to the treatment of brain diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease.

Moser will cooperate with the Yimei International Medical Anti-Aging Center, a newly launched health project based beside the county's Qiandao Lake, known in English as Thousand Island Lake, in doing research on cerebral and neural mechanisms, and boosting the application of academic findings.

The Yimei center, Moser's research base in Chun'an, is the county's first medical unit specializing in the prevention of chronic diseases. Aiming to provide integrated medical and elderly care services for patients, the center will make full use of the abundant tourist resources around Qiandao Lake, in order to provide therapy for patients.

In the future, Chun'an hopes to further develop its health industry with the Yimei medical center at its fore.
