Minning town, a model for poverty-alleviation work


The family owns their own house and car. Theirfour mu (2,700 square meters) of contracted farm land is used by companies through land transfer thus they earn some extra income annually.
"My family's annual income is more than three times of that in the past,"he said.
Hai's family is anexample of the migrating families at the Minning town.
"The development of Minning town successfully explored a new way of alleviating poverty through resettling the villagers at a new area," said Mi Chao, deputy director of the poverty alleviation office of Ningxia.
The key to the prosperity of the Minning town is integrating the residents with industries and integrating the town with the industries. Therefore, it effectively solves the problem of increasing the peasants' income by providing consistent driving force, he said.
Currently, four major industries, namelyfungus grass, yellow cattle, grapes and labor services, have begun to take shape.
The name Minning comes from the short names of East China's Fujian province"Min" and Ningxia Hui autonomous region "Ning".
It has become a pioneering and successful model of development-oriented poverty alleviation with Chinese characteristics.
