A retrospective performance of Chinese symphony for the sixth Chinese symphony season opened in the Blüthner (Qingdao) Grand Theater in East China's Shandong province on Oct 27.

The Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra gave an instrumental performance.

After that, a series of activities, including nine concerts, forums and discussions will be held in East China's Qingdao, Southwest China's Chengdu, Beijing and other cities, and they will run until Jan 15.

The activities aim to raise awareness of Chinese young and middle-aged composers and the stories of how they have worked over the past 40 years.

A forum to discuss the development of symphony orchestras in China was also held on Oct 28, in which many artists and experts delivered speeches.
