Recent decades have seen not only more Chinese people visiting museums and art galleries but art and artists are shortening the distance between their work and people's daily lives.

Thirty-four sculptures by artists from home and abroad now enrich the views at Wuhu Sculpture Park in Wuhu, Anhui province. The display, scheduled to last a year, shows winning works from the seventh Liu Kaiqu Awards, named after the eminent late sculptor and art educator.

A permanent showcase at the newly-opened Wuhu Sculpture Art Museum also brings together reduced models of the works which previously won awards.
