BEIJING - The Ministry of Education (MOE) and Ministry of Finance will jointly build up a batch of world-class higher vocational colleges with Chinese characteristics, the MOE announced Tuesday.

According to a guideline that jointly released by the two ministries, China will concentrate on building around 50 quality higher-vocational colleges.

It aims to significantly enhance the standard and influence of higher vocational colleges included in the plan by 2022 and make vocational education an important force to support national strategies and local development.

By 2035, it aims to make a batch of higher vocational colleges to reach advanced international levels and provide human talent support for enhancing national competitiveness.

The first round of construction will start in 2019.
