Song Fei, who first performed at the Forbidden City Concert Hall at 16, is the daughter of Song Guosheng, an established erhu artist. But over the past 20 years, she herself has grown into a leading artist and her father is now often referred to as "Song Fei's father". Conductor and music director of Beijing Symphony Orchestra Tan Lihua, who conducted the opening concert in April 1999 and has been part of more than 300 performances in the hall, says: "Through its various shows, the hall has made great contributions to spreading art among the general public."
