The 2nd China Hospital Internet of Things Conference kicked off in Wuxi, Jiangsu province on Nov 23.
The three-day event, which is one of the biggest and most high-profile events related to medical applications of internet of things (IoT) technology, consisted of one main summit, the Belt and Road Initiative international summit, 21 sub-forums, and one exhibition.
The main summit focused on smart hospitals in the 5G era, and experts, scholars, hospital principles, and other figures in the medical industry were invited to discuss how new technology can alter the development trajectory of the medical industry.
The exhibition covered an area of 30,000 square meters and featured the latest IoT and 5G technologies and products to be applied in medical care.
Around 100 hospitals and enterprises, including AstraZeneca and Shanghai Tmirob Co, showcased their medical products at the event, many of which combined big data, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and IoT.

During the opening ceremony, 10 institutions were awarded for their application of IoT in the medical industry, including Wuxi No 3 People's Hospital, which has employed various high-end technologies to improve the capacity of ward nursing systems, operation rooms, and medical service apps.
In the future, the China Hospital Internet of Things Conference will take place in Wuxi every year, providing a platform for equipment makers to showcase their products. In addition, the China Association of Medical Equipment has decided to build an IoT medical industry center in Wuxi.
