Residents in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province will be able to travel to Shenzhen in South China's Guangdong province on a direct train from Dec 20 to March 30, 2020, according to rail officials.
The temporary route is meant to relieve traffic pressure during the upcoming China's Spring Festival travel rush-the world's biggest annual human migration, which will last for 40 days from Jan 10 to Feb 18, 2020.
According to officials at Nantong Railway Station, the train number is K94. It will set off from Nantong at 11:40 and arrive at Shenzhen East Railway Station at 14:28 the next day.
There are 21 stops on the way. These include Chuzhou, Bengbu, Hefei, Anqing in Anhui province, Jiujiang, Nanchang, Ganzhou in Jiangxi province, as well as Heyuan, Huizhou and Dongguan in Guangdong province.
Officials said another route connecting Nantong with Shijiazhuang, capital of North China's Hebei province, will also be reintroduced on Jan 11, 2020.
Train tickets for Chinese New Year's Eve went on sale on Dec 26.
Tickets can be purchased online or by phone 30 days in advance of travel, or at railway stations, ticket agencies and self-ticketing machines 28 days ahead of time.
