Wuhan -- capital of central Hubei province -- started construction of three mobile cabin hospitals on Feb 3, to contain and treat patients suspected of contracting the novel coronavirus, according to local officials.
They said the mobile hospitals were expected to be ready as soon as the evening of Feb 4.
The temporary hospitals will be converted and renovated from the city’s sports stadium and two convention centers located at Jianghan district, Wuchang district and Dongxihu district, respectively.
According to reports on people.com, each mobile cabin hospital will offer at least 1,000 beds to treat infected patients with mild symptoms.
All three hospitals will have multiple functions such as emergency treatments, surgical treatments and clinical examination.
Medics will be dispatched to the facilities to take care of patients who test positive for the virus -- but show no severe symptoms -- as soon as they are completed.
Once a patient's symptoms worsen, he or she will be transferred to Jinyintan Hospital, one of the city's designated hospitals to admit patients infected with the new virus, in a timely manner.
