China has full confidence in winning the battle against the novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic at an early date, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Friday.

Wang made the remarks when meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on the sidelines of a security conference in Munich.

Noting Zarif is the first foreign minister that expressed sympathy to the Chinese after the outbreak of the virus, Wang said it reflects the friendship between the people of the two countries to support each other and jointly overcome difficulties.

Zarif said that the Iranian government and its people will continue to provide China with all necessary support and assistance.

He expressed gratitude to China for supporting Iran in safeguarding its legitimate rights and interests, saying Iran is willing to strengthen communication and cooperation with China on issues such as the Iran nuclear deal, he said.
