As of April 20, a total of 199 State-owned A-level scenic spots, along with several cultural venues and museums in Fujian, East China's Fujian province, have reopened as the COVID 19 epidemic wanes, the provincial culture and tourism department said on April 21.

Local authorities said that as the five-day May Day holiday approaches, more scenic areas will be reopened while still ensuring the safety and health of tourists.

The province's cultural and tourism departments said that intercity travel is gradually resuming, and international and interprovincial travel were still locked down due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The tourist sites that have resumed operations are prohibited from exceeding 30 percent of maximum visitor capacity, and non-contact methods such as mobile payment, e-tickets and guide machines should be promoted to avoid cross-infection.

Tourist sites are required to encourage visitors to reserve online in advance and go through real-name registration, with the aim of controlling visitor flows and preventing large gatherings of people.
