The First Affiliated (Nansha) Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University has finished the bidding process for its intelligentization project, aiming to become the most intelligent hospital in the world.

Construction of the First Affiliated (Nansha) Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University started in July 2018, with 1,500 patient beds, and it is expected to be put into operation in November 2021. The hospital is the first of its kind in the world to have an artificial intelligence company lead the construction procress.

The winning bid, worth 312 million yuan ($46.57 million), was from Cloud Walk Technology Co, a national leading company in developing AI, which will undertake the construction of the hospital's information infrastructure system and network system.

The network system of the hospital is the core and base as the system will be made according to the demands from current systems, as well as the demands from future operations in the next five to 10 years.

The hospital will be connected to the Internet of Things from its light current system so that smart supervision features can be available in the hospital, such as recognizing whether patients leave their beds or wards without permission and setting off an alarm when recognizing medical disturbances.

After construction is completed, the hospital will be the sub center for medicine in Guangzhou, pushing forward the intelligentization and information construction of the regional medical system.
