Northeast China's Liaoning province reported eight new confirmed COVID-19 cases and two asymptomatic carriers, all locally transmitted, on Monday, Liaoning's provincial health commission said on Tuesday.
One new asymptomatic case and six new confirmed cases are from Shenyang, capital of the province.
The other asymptomatic case and two confirmed cases are from the port city Dalian.
As of Monday, Liaoning province has 48 confirmed cases and 31 asymptomatic patients being treated in the hospital.
The COVID-19 situation in Shenyang has been under control and there is little possibility of further spread and having a large-scale outbreak, said Mao Yinbai, spokesman of Shenyang Health Commission on Tuesday.
But the city still faces the complicated situation of coronavirus prevention and control due to the increasing mobility of people during the coming New Year and Spring Festival holidays, and the existing risks of infection from polluted cold-chain frozen products and imported cases.
He suggested that Shenyang should take more resolute actions and more strict measures since there are still new cases being reported.
