The China International Import Expo Bureau held a webinar to attract Hong Kong companies for the first time on Feb 26.
More than 60 companies attended the webinar, which was jointly organized by the bureau and its Hong Kong Liaison Office, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), and the Bank of China.
Sun Chenghai, deputy director-general of the CIIE Bureau, said that booths by 242 Hong Kong companies occupied 36,000 square meters at the expo venue last year. Nearly 600 Hong Kong companies have participated in the past three editions of the CIIE.
"We cordially welcome more Hong Kong companies to come to the CIIE and enjoy the benefits brought by the expo," said Sun. "We will work to create more business opportunities for Hong Kong companies to enter the market in the Chinese mainland."
Stephen Liang, assistant executive director of HKTDC, said that many Hong Kong companies had signed contracts with domestic buyers during the expo last year.
The HKTDC will organize two groups - one for food companies and the other for service companies – for this year's expo.
