Chinese-Canadian entrepreneurs look forward to 4th CIIE Release date: 2021-03-16 Source:Multiple
Chinese business people in Canada have sniffed fresh commercial opportunities in China's 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) and are keen to explore the country's huge market through the China International Import Expo (CIIE).
Jeannie Cheng, president of the Canada International Trade Promotion Society (CITPS), expressed optimism towards the future of China as the five-year plan features many new development drivers. She said that she plans to expand investment in sectors related to Chinese people's livelihoods, which is also a focus of the plan.
The CIIE, as the first import-themed national-level expo in the world, is an ideal platform for businesses to seek opportunities, said Cheng. She added that the expo not only brings in high-end products and leading companies from Canada as well as other countries, but also helps global companies enter the Chinese market and benefit from the nation's growth.
The CITPS intends to organize a group of Canadian companies to exhibit at the food and agricultural products as well as the medical equipment & healthcare products areas at the fourth CIIE this year, with an emphasis on organic food and healthy lifestyle, according to Cheng.
Many member companies of the Montreal-based Canadian Chinese Entrepreneurs Council are also actively preparing for the fourth CIIE, said Philippe H.B. Wang, president of the council. China's annual two sessions this year has sent a strong signal to the world that the country will provide much support to the rapid recovery of the global economy in the post-pandemic era, and this greatly inspires Chinese enterprises in Canada, said Wang.
The 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) shows Chinese government's confidence and strategic wisdom in invigorating the national economy and promoting international cooperation on economic development issues, he added.
The fourth edition of CIIE will be held in Shanghai from Nov 5 to 10 this year, and hundreds of companies have already signed up.
