China's Ministry of Commerce and Indonesia's Ministry of Trade held a video meeting on April 8 to exchange views on strengthening the economic and trade ties between the two countries.
Indonesia's Trade Minister Muhammad Lutfi said at the meeting that his country will play an active part in the fourth edition of the China International Import Expo and welcome China's efforts to import more Indonesian products.
Bilateral trade between the two countries has been continuously growing, said Lutfi, noting that Indonesia has become a significant producer and exporter of stainless steel in the world partly due to investments from Chinese companies.
He added that Indonesia hopes to upgrade the economic and trade cooperation agreements that the two countries have signed. His country also hopes that China can accelerate efforts to facilitate the exports of Indonesian goods to China such as edible bird's nest, fruits, konjac chips, and frozen aquatic products.
China will support its domestic companies to expand investment in Indonesia and import high-quality Indonesian products, said Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao, adding that more efforts will be made to facilitate bilateral trade, address issues of mutual concern, as well as strengthen the synergy of the Belt and Road Initiative and the Global Maritime Fulcrum strategy, which is Indonesia's grand maritime vision.
China has been ramping up efforts to boost the dual circulation economic development pattern, which will open up its market further and bring more opportunities to Indonesia and other countries, added Wang.
