The Quanzhou Bay Cross-sea Bridge of the Fuzhou-Xiamen High-Speed Railway took another major step toward completion when the main bridge was completed on Aug 6.

The bridge, which measures 20.29 kilometers in length, is an integral part of the Fuzhou-Xiamen railway. The cross-sea segment spans 8.96 km.

The bridge is a semi-floating, cable-stayed bridge with twin towers and double cable planes, and boasts anti-wind, anti-corrosion, and anti-vibration qualities.

The 24.68-km Xixi Grand Bridge, the longest bridge on the Fuzhou-Xiamen High-Speed Railway, also completed the setting up of its beams on Aug 7.

Spanning 277.42 kilometers, the Fuzhou-Xiamen railway is China's first cross-sea high-speed railway with a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour. It is expected to be completed in 2022.

Once it is put into service, the railway will cut the travel time between Fuzhou and Xiamen in Fujian province to less than one hour, as well as form a half-hour traffic circle among Xiamen, Zhangzhou, and Quanzhou.
