The Hukou Waterfall Tourist Area on the Yellow River on the border of North China's Shanxi province and Northwest China's Shaanxi province was announced as one of 12 national 5A tourist attractions by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism on July 15.

The Hukou Waterfall of the Yellow River is located in the Shanxi-Shaanxi Grand Canyon. It is the largest yellow waterfall in the world and is considered a symbol of the spirit of the Chinese nation.

Shanxi's Hukou Waterfall Tourist Area has a planned total area of 116 square kilometers and a core scenic area of 34.3 sq km. It is a scenic spot integrating the natural landscapes and cultural attractions of the Loess Plateau.

In recent years, the tourist area has improved its infrastructure and services, further enhancing its attractiveness and competitiveness.

In accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Jixian county in Shanxi province and Yichuan county in Shaanxi province will jointly develop the Hukou Waterfall Tourist Area by unifying management agencies, images and logos, ticket prices, complaint handling, and publicity.
