The first Jinan Book Market was launched on Feb 25 at the Jinan Shungeng International Convention and Exhibition Center in Jinan, Shandong province as a sub-event of the 35th Beijing Book Fair.
The center consists of nine different themed exhibition areas, including a "metaverse reading" exhibition area, a public reading exhibition area, and a teenager reading exhibition area to meet visitors' diverse reading needs.
Jia Pingwa, one of China's most respected writers, attended the opening ceremony of the book market and said that it was a great thing for Jinan, a city that gave birth to Li Qingzhao and Xin Qiji - two renowned poets from the Song Dynasty (960-1279), to be a venue for the Beijing Book Fair.
Together with three sub-venues, the exhibition covers a total area of 32,000 square meters, with over 400 publishers selling over 300,000 books on online platforms and offline venues.
In addition, the exhibition offers free admission and and a 30 percent discount for book purchasers and another 40 yuan ($5.74) discount for every 100 yuan spent after the discount.
