A traditional Chinese puzzle made of beautifully fitted interlocking wooden pieces -- known as a Luban lock -- is easy to take apart but challenging to reassemble. Named for the ancient master craftsman and inventor, Lu Ban, the locks continue to entertain people today in many versions. Wood joiners continue to develop their craft by merging contemporary design concepts with technology. In Tengzhou, Shandong province, the birthplace of Lu Ban, visitors can feel the wisdom embodied in the ancient craft and experience the fusion of tradition and innovation.
