In Pengshui, lion dances can be categorized into the ground lion dance, the high platform lion dance and the high pole lion dance. The county boasts a history of approximately 150 years with the high platform lion dance, local authorities said.
Ground and high pole lion dances are typically performed during daily festivals, birthdays, weddings, funerals and grand openings. The high platform lion dance, staged on elevated platforms, is often reserved for major festivals and competitions.
