Starting April 10, East China's Zhejiang province will implement a simplified registration system for commodity trading markets, lowering entry barriers for businesses, according to the Administration for Market Regulation of Zhejiang Province.

Under the new system, businesses setting up commodity trading markets in Zhejiang will only need to register as operating entities — provided they meet local commercial zoning and planning requirements.

Previously, market organizers were required to complete both entity registration and a separate market name registration.

An official from the provincial administration said that many organizers have raised concerns about the burden and this reform directly addresses that.

Commodity trading markets are fixed venues that offer stalls, infrastructure, and management services to multiple vendors trading goods ranging from consumer products to industrial materials.

In 2024, Zhejiang established 48 new commodity trading markets. Officials said they believe the new registration system will make it easier for entrepreneurs to enter the space, further enhancing the province's business environment.
