Nantong Vocational University in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, hosted a Chinese classic recitation contest among its international students on May 15 to promote their understanding of Chinese culture.

This competition attracted participants from various countries such as Laos, Vietnam, Namibia, Pakistan, Uganda, and Zambia.

During the recitation event, 15 groups of contestants took the stage in succession, each presenting the charm of Chinese classics with their unique interpretations. Among the participants, the performance of Namibian contestants reciting Saying Goodbye to Cambridge Again from the perspective of a foreigner captivated the audience, expressing Xu Zhimo's poignant sentiments regarding parting.

Moreover, the collaborative rendition of Qiang Jin Jiu (Bring in the Wine) by Namibian and Ugandan contestants exemplified the romantic essence of poet Li Bai, characterized by a bold and dynamic style. Additionally, a Laotian student amazed the audience with his recitation of Chinese Words, showcasing his strong proficiency in the language. His performance conveyed the beauty of Chinese rhythm and the richness of its cultural heritage, leaving a lasting impression on the audience.

This recitation contest served as a stage for showcasing international students' language abilities and an important practice for NTVU to promote international cultural exchange.

Through classic recitations, students from China and abroad can perceive China's profound cultural heritage within the texts, enhancing understanding and friendship through communication. The university will continue to use diverse activities to cultivate more cultural ambassadors with an international perspective, bringing Chinese culture to the world stage.
