The National Ballet of China brought a grand showcase to Cairo’s Opera House on June 17.
The company’s youth ballerinas staged an enchanting performance featuring a mix of classical ballets along with their original works. The performance of classics such as The Grand Pas De Deux and Giselle left the Egyptian audience in no doubt about the company’s world-class skills, and they didn’t hold back in showing their appreciation.
Original Chinese ballets like Raise the Red Lantern, inspired by director Zhang Yimou’s 1991 film of the same name, and The Peony Pavilion, a romance based on a 400-year-old epic masterpiece of Kunqu opera, also captivated the audience with unique Chinese aesthetics.
