Film studio turns into art playground in Northwest China

The Zhenbeipu Western Film Studio, at the foot of Helan Mountain, in Yinchuan, Ningxia Hui autonomous region, was the birthplace of action films. Now, it has become a stage of public art thanks to a collaboration with artists from Sichuan Fine Arts Institute in Chongqing.
Installations that look back on the history of Ningxia and Northwest China were unveiled at At the Foot of Helan Mountain, a public art festival that opened on July 18, at the Zhenbeipu Western Film Studio.
The artworks reflect primitive rock art, bustling Silk Road trade, and architecture shaped by diverse cultural influences. Seamlessly integrated into the scenes and settings of the Zhenbeipu Western Film Studio, they also highlight the studio's role in the development of Chinese cinema.
The artworks will be on display until Oct 18.
