Xinghua emerges as a national powerhouse in health food industry

Xinghua, a county-level city administered by Taizhou, Jiangsu province, is building on its existing strengths to further elevate its position in the national food industry and establish itself as a benchmark for innovation and quality in the sector.
Xinghua, known as a strong food industry city nationwide, has nurtured nine national geographical indication products, including rice, hairy crab, and scallion.
In 2024, the output value of the city's above-designated-size food companies hit 30 billion yuan ($4.18 billion).
The Xinghua Economic Development Zone is at the center of the city's efforts to produce health food. To create an international-level seasoning industry cluster area, the zone has formulated an 8-square-kilometer blueprint, which includes the construction of a 1-million-square-meter modern standard factory building.

The zone focuses on developing segmented fields of composite seasonings, rice and flour products, premade food, dehydrated fruits and vegetables, leisure food, and dairy products, assisting the city in building more distinctive and influential regional characteristic industries.
In recent years, three major advantageous agglomeration areas have emerged in Xinghua, with the Xinghua EDZ focusing on health food, Xingdong town and Duotian sub-district focusing on dehydrated fruits and vegetables, and Daiyao town engaged in rice processing.
As the largest dehydrated vegetable processing, export, and distribution base in Asia, Xinghua is home to a large number of leading enterprises in the field. In 2024, the sales revenue of Xinghua's dehydrated vegetable industry reached 5.3 billion yuan, accounting for over 42 percent of the sales volume in the country, while its export volume exceeded 62 percent of the province's total vegetable exports.
In addition, Xinghua always puts enterprise needs first and proactively provides full process and full cycle services for enterprises. For instance, it has established a customs supervision operation point in the inland port of CCCC Xinghua Port, providing convenient customs clearance services for foreign trade enterprises.
The high-quality business environment has given rise to a continuous stream of Phase II projects in the city.
