A new five-episode short-video series showcasing diplomatic endeavors and peace initiatives of Soong Ching Ling, the wife of Sun Yat-sen, in the early years of the People's Republic of China, is set to premiere on Tuesday.

The series, A Life for Peace, jointly produced by the Shanghai Soong Ching Ling research association and Shanghai Media Group's Docu-China Co, marks the 80th anniversary of victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

Through personal artifacts and intimate narratives, the series presents a comprehensive portrait of Soong, revealing her role in building bridges between China and the international community during a transformative period in modern Chinese history.

With Soong's former residence on Shanghai's Huaihai Middle Road as its focal point, the series weaves together her diplomatic activities in Shanghai with broader international themes, highlighting her extensive network of international contacts and cross-cultural initiatives.

The production team curated nearly 80 historical documents and artifacts, selecting about 70 items from a collection of 300 peace-related materials housed at the Soong Ching Ling memorial residence in Shanghai.
