Venues for the 2025 Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit, to be held on Sunday and Monday in Tianjin, will have a 100 percent green electricity supply, State Grid Tianjin Electric Power Company said.

The venue operator for the summit recently completed a green electricity transaction with local Tianjin renewable energy companies that will secure one million kilowatt-hours of electricity, ensuring green power supply for all venues during the conference. It is the equivalent to reducing the combustion of 320 tons of standard coal and cutting carbon dioxide emissions by 800 tons, according to the power company.

This is the first time the SCO summit will have achieved a totally green power supply for all venues, the company said.

Meanwhile, the Tianjin Green Electricity and Green Certificate Service Center facilitated the purchase of 2,250 green certificates by key service venues such as airports, high-speed rail stations, and Haihe River cruise ships equivalent to 2.25 million kilowatt-hours of green electricity.

This initiative will further reduce standard coal consumption by 720 tons and cut carbon dioxide emissions by 1,794 tons.

"Since 2025, we have supported the grid integration of 2.06 million kilowatts of new energy capacity from 27 renewable energy enterprises, further underpinning the high-quality development of the new power system," said Liu Song, deputy director of the Hydropower and New Energy Division of the company's Dispatch and Control Center.

With the rapid development of new energy, demand for green energy continues to grow. Since the beginning of this year, Tianjin's green electricity market transactions have exceeded 16 billion kilowatt-hours, nearly doubling the same period last year.

"We have implemented the 15 service measures under the 'Supporting and Assisting Enterprises' initiative, providing a robust green energy engine for companies seeking green electricity," said Chang Yadi, director of the marketing department of the service center. "To date, we have assisted 214 enterprises citywide in achieving a full green electricity supply, totaling 7.497 billion kWh," he added.

Meanwhile, to ensure an uninterrupted power supply, the power company will deploy some 4,200 support personnel and more than 1,800 support vehicles during the SCO conference.

Three urban power grid emergency repair centers, emergency core teams, and 101 grid-based power stations across the city will remain on 24-hour standby.

Unlike previous events, this power supply operation this year will employ a panoramic power supply command platform. This system enables real-time monitoring of the entire power supply process from the main grid to venue electrical equipment, and facilitates online coordination of personnel, vehicles and logistical resources.

Sun Hao, a technician at the Power Supply Assurance Command Center of Chengnan Power Supply Co, said, "This operation involves over 100 substations and more than 400 power lines, relying solely on manual inspections.

"With this platform, we can intuitively monitor the operational status of all equipment nodes, receive intelligent fault alerts, and facilitate rapid responses. We expect it to boost overall inspection efficiency by approximately 65 percent."

Beyond the newly launched command platform, State Grid Tianjin Electric Power said it has leveraged technological tools such as intelligent inspection systems, inspection robots and infrared detectors to ensure the security of the urban power supply.
