Theme events held in Shanghai's Hongkou district to commemorate V-Day

The Memorial Hall of the Fourth National Congress of the CPC in Shanghai's Hongkou district held a series of events to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War on Wednesday.
The events brought together representatives from various sectors, including war veterans' families, military personnel, school students, healthcare workers, and national moral models.
The day began with a flag-raising ceremony at the national flag square, symbolizing unity and remembrance. A highlight of the commemoration was the district's thematic film screening event, showcasing both classic war films and recent releases, as Hongkou was once a significant site during the Battle of Shanghai, also known as the Songhu Battle.
The district's information department said that the film event aims to honor the nation's history and celebrate its prosperity.
The event also featured a collaborative art exhibition with representatives from Belarus, unveiling illustrations from Chinese and Belarusian anti-Fascist literary works, highlighting the shared history and collective memory of both nations.
The Belarusian guests noted that the event fosters a deeper connection between the younger generations of both countries, encouraging mutual interest in each other's literary and cultural heritage.
