China reiterates it wants a lawful and balanced TikTok solution

Beijing has reiterated its support for efforts to reach a lawful and balanced solution over TikTok, calling on Washington to provide an open and fair environment for Chinese companies.
The Chinese government respects the wishes of the company in question and would be happy to see commercial negotiations being carried out according to market rules and leading to a solution that complies with China's laws and regulations and takes into account both sides' interests, Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun reiterated.
Guo made the remarks after United States President Donald Trump signed an executive order enabling Tiktok's continued operations in the US.
"We hope the US side provides an open, fair and non-discriminatory environment for Chinese investors," Guo said.
China and the US have reached a basic framework consensus on resolving issues related to TikTok through cooperation, Li Chenggang, China international trade representative with the Ministry of Commerce and vice-minister of commerce, said at a news conference on Sept 15, following China-US trade talks in Madrid.
