Witnessing heritage: Xi's cultural encounters (6)

President Xi Jinping has always emphasized the importance of protecting and promoting #intangibleculturalheritage. Following in his footsteps, let's explore the outstanding Chinese intangible cultural heritage.
Today, we highlight the intangible cultural heritage of Chaozhou, Guangdong province, a famous cultural city with a long history. The region's embroidery, porcelain, woodcarving, clay sculpture, opera, and kung fu tea are all recognized as China's national intangible cultural heritage, which Xi described as "precious treasures of Chinese culture".
In October 2020, Xi visited the ancient Guangji Gate Tower in the city, where he viewed displays of these local intangible cultural heritage works and observed the crafting process. During conversations with several artisans on site, Xi acknowledged their hard work and contributions to preserving Chinese culture.
Noting the city's culture as an important part of Chinese civilization, Xi stressed the need for stronger protection and inheritance of intangible cultural heritage, with more inheritors nurtured and cultural treasures shining with even greater charm.
