Exports from Guangdong province to Africa rose 23.1 percent year-on-year to $2.3 billion and imports from the continent to Guangdong doubled to $5.17 billion in the first two months of the year, according to Guangzhou Customs.

South Africa, Nigeria and Egypt were the largest three trading partners of the province, with South Africa making up more than 70 percent of the Guangdong-Africa trade, customs said on March 27.

Main exported items from Guangdong included machinery and electronic products, garments, shoes, textiles and furniture.

Items imported from Africa to Guangdong consisted mainly of diamonds, crude oil, coal, timber, agricultural products and manganese sand and ore concentrate.
