Beijing Enlight Media Co Ltd reported on Wednesday that its revenue in 2012 reached 1.03 billion yuan ($165.5 million), a year-on-year increase of 48.13 percent.

The net profit rose by 76.47 percent year-on-year to 310 million yuan, according to the report.

The company contributed the significant growth to the income increase generated in the film and television series sector.

In 2012, Enlight Media earned box office receipts in excess of 1.6 billion yuan through the distribution of 12 movies, in which the low-budget blockbuster Lost in Thailand raked in more than 1 billion yuan in ticket sales during the period.

China's national box office revenue reached 17.07 billion yuan in 2012, according to the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television. Enlight Media had a 9.4 percent share in the movie market nationwide last year, following Huayi Brothers Media Group, which took 12.4 percent with ticket sales of 2.1 billion yuan.

Wang Changtian, CEO and president of Enlight Media told media that the company's wholly owned subsidiary Enlight Pictures is expected to further invest in film production and distribution in the next two years, and the revenue earned through film would account for more than 50 percent of the company's total revenue.
