HONG KONG - The Hong Kong Customs officers cracked the largest single sea-smuggling case in Hong Kong, seizing 200 million HK dollars worth of goods and arresting three people over the past several days, the Hong Kong Customs said Sunday.

Marine Enforcement Group officers on Thursday stopped a river trade vessel heading for Zhaoqing, Guangdong Province in the Hong Kong waters. The officers held 32 containers, which were declared to contain "plastic waste", for examination, and found smuggled goods worth 200 million HK dollars inside.

Officers then raided six companies in Yuen Long, Tuen Mun, Kwun Tong and Sheung Wan across Hong Kong, and arrested three people, suspected to be members of the smuggling syndicate.

The Hong Kong Customs said the investigation is going on and more details will be released later.
