Nearly 10,000 passengers departed from the Kunming Changshui International Airport on Saturday, after many of them had been stranded there since Thursday, said the airport operator.

From midnight Friday to 3:00 pm Saturday, the airport saw 281 flights, including 111 arrivals and 170 departures.

Massive flight delays began to affect the airport on Thursday after thick fog reduced visibility to 300 to 800 meters.

The airport fell into a brief period of disorder when some stranded passengers grew angry with the delays and service flaws.

Operators said they were making all-out efforts to maintain order and arrange accommodations for stranded passengers.
