Fugitive sent back to China from Japan

Xinhua | Updated: 2013-03-28 10:37

BEIJING - A man suspected of swindling others has been arrested and sent back to China through the joint efforts of Japanese and Chinese police, according to the Ministry of Public Security (MPS).

Sunmuziyang (old name Li Qi), a 45-year-old Chinese, illegally obtained hundreds of millions of yuan in China from 2010 to 2011 by claiming to be raising funds to acquire a company before fleeing to Japan, the MPS said.

The MPS sent a team to Japan to cooperate with Japanese law enforcement in capturing Li.

Li was subsequently arrested by Japanese police and sent back to China on March 22, the MPS said.
