By Zhou Wenting | chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: 2013-09-13 19:55

Shanghai Customs intercepted 200 metric tons of copper ore with excessive levels of radiation, the second time the declarer attempted to import them, the official website of People's Daily reported on Thursday.

The eight containers of copper ore from Thailand were declared by a Shanghai company to have been imported in April but failed a check of radiation levels. The cargo was ordered to be withdrawn.

The cargo was initially detected with excessive levels of radiation in Anhui province in February and customs ordered an immediate return.
