The remains of a 78.8-meter-long kiln, believed to be the longest of those built in the Tang Dynasty (AD 618-907), were unearthed by archaeologists working at a famous kiln site, Xinhua News Agency reported on Tuesday.

The archaeologists were working in the Nanyao Kiln Ruins in Nanyao village, Jingdezhen, Jiangxi province. The Nanyao Kiln Ruins were found in 1964.

Excavation approval for a new site was granted by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage in March.

Archaeologists excavated 1,013.5 square meters at the site and also unearthed dozens of items related to the kiln, including furniture and porcelain pieces.
