Primary school at the verge of Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau

Students at Gexi Village Central Primary School in Ganzi Tibetan autonomous region, Southwest China's Sichuan province, pose for a photo on Oct 13. First built in 1956, the campus was renovated in 2013. The campus and occupies 6450 square meters. Its primary school supports 209 students grades 1 through 6. There are 16 members on the teaching staff. The school offers courses in Tibetan language, Chinese language, math, science, music and sports. The pre-school department has around 80 students and seven teaching staff. Most people in the school are of the Tibetan ethnicity. The gradual renovation and expansion of the Sichuan-Tibet Highway's South Line that passes through the village has enabled children living far from the boarding school to commune to the school to receive education. The classes at the boarding school start every Monday. Students can go home on Saturday afternoons and take the weekends off. [Photo by Gao Yu/ Provided to chinadaily.com.cn]
