Chinese man collects 700 relics from the Anti-Japanese War
( 2002-07-30 10:15 ) (8 )

A Chinese man has collected more than 700 items left from the War Against Japanese Aggression (1937-1945).

Duan Shengkui, 37, an employee with an agricultural bank in Tengchong County in southwest China's Yunnan Province, spent 20 years collecting war relics to enrich his private war piece collection.

His relics cover three categories: utensils of Japanese soldiers; mementos of Chinese soldiers; and items used by the British and American armed forces.

The items in the first category include swords, mess tins, leather shoes and signal lamps of Japanese soldiers.

Tengchong County, 700 km to the south of Kunming City and close to the China-Myanmar border, used to be occupied by the Japanese invading army during the war. The Chinese army, with their peers from Britain and the United States, fought bloody battles there.
