Schalke, Feyenoord, Dortmund out of UEFA

Past champions Schalke 04 and
Feyenoord were knocked out of the UEFA Cup's second round Thursday, as was 1997
Champions Cup winner Borussia Dortmund.
Manchester City also was eliminated, while AS Roma, AC Parma, Perugia,
Liverpool and Newcastle reached the third round.
Borussia Dortmund had its worst European cup defeat, 4-0 against France's
Sochaux, and lost the home-and-home series 6-2.
Schalke lost 3-1 on penalty kicks at Danish club Brondby, Feyenoord lost 3-1
on aggregate to Czech club FK Teplice, and Manchester City was eliminated by
Poland's Dyskobolia Grodzisk on the away goals rule.
