Well-known Chinese film director and actor Xie Tian died at the age of 89 in Beijing on Saturday.

Born in Tianjin, he acted in many films portraying a wide variety of roles, including a professor, a landlord, workers, etc.

He acted in "Lin Family Shop" and his "Candied Enterprise" won him best director in the Hundred Flowers Awards.

The film "Teahouse" won the special prize in the Golden Rooster Awards in 1983.
