China on Wednesday kicked off a commodities and technology show in the Tehran International Exhibition Center, pioneered with the second Seminar on China-Iran Economic, Commercial and Investment Cooperation.

The show, China Commodities & Technology Expo, was sponsored by The Ministry of Commerce and admitted 163 enterprises from China, witnessing a large variety of exhibitions in the 6,000 square-meter hall, ranging from locomotive and trucks to lamps and jeans.

It is the largest commodities and technology expo held abroad by the Chinese government, which is also the largest exhibition concerning one foreign country in Iran.

Iranian commercial organizations have also played an essential role in the Expo.

The Expo was inaugurated by Gao Hucheng, Vice Minister of Chinese Ministry of Commerce, and Asadollah Askoroladi, Chairman of Iran-China Chamber of Commerce and Industries.

Representatives of the seminar held that bilateral trade between China and Iran enjoys a promising future as both countries are sharing complementarity in their products.

Bilateral trade between the two countries reached some US$5.6 billion in 2003.
