The 3rd National Wheel-Chair Games, to be held from November 8 to 12 at the northern Mexican city of Torreon, Coahuila, will count with the participation of 900 athletes, it was announced Wednesday.

The Director of Coahuila state Sports Institute, Carlos Ayala, told a press conference that the event will mark the beginning of a new sports era in the country.

"We're organized to offer the best of events, which will be the beginning of a new era of that sports specialty that will be a step towards the Paralympic Games of Beijing 2008," said the official.

The Mexican athletes who won medals in the recently-concluded Paralympic Games of Athens, will also participate in this competition in the Latin American country.

The third edition of this games will include six disciplines: athletics, swimming, weightlifting, table tennis and archery, in addition to tennis as an exhibition sport, Espinosa said.
