(China Daily)
Updated: 2004-02-18 14:33

Vendors in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong Province, who fix electronic scales to cheat customers will face a fine of as much as 30,000 yuan (US$3,600), according to a rule implemented on Monday, reports Guangzhou Daily.

Supermarkets, restaurants, stores, vendors in wet markets and others which use electronic scales are required to install an anti-cheating device in their scales by June 1. The government's move is meant to protect the interests of consumers, who have been cheated in many places.
